ABOUT THIS LIVESTREAM
Virtual Railfan’s live train cameras at Roanoke, Virginia, are hosted by the Virginia Museum of Transportation, the official transportation museum of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Located in the historic N&W freight station, the museum preserves the city’s rich rail heritage with an extensive collection of steam, diesel, and electric locomotives, rolling stock, and exhibits covering automotive, aviation, and space transportation.

Roanoke is one of Norfolk Southern’s most important rail hubs, home to a major yard, locomotive servicing facilities, and the historic Roanoke Shops. The city is the only location on NS’s network where the Heartland Corridor and Crescent Corridor intersect, moving intermodal containers, coal, merchandise, and local freight. Up to 50 trains pass daily, and Amtrak’s Northeast Regional stops here, with plans for expanded passenger service.
